Escape to the Countryside for a Day

Coffee, Connection, and a Little Magic Under the Mũkũyũ Tree

There's a place in Muranga's (an hour from Nairobi) where time slows down, where the air lifts you up, where you can pick your lunch from the garden and sip sundowners as the sun sets over the hills.

This is Guka and Cũcũ's farm. And for a day, it can be yours too.

This isn't your typical farm tour. There are no clipboards, no lectures, no formal itineraries. Instead, imagine a day at a friend's countryside retreat—where you'll wander through coffee trees with a cup in hand, pet curious goats, harvest vegetables for your lunch, and spend the afternoon lounging under our ancient Mũkũyũ (fig) tree, swapping stories and savoring farm-fresh food.

Think of it as Kenya's answer to a vineyard visit or wine tour—except instead of grapes, it's the champagne of coffees. And instead of a tasting room, it's the rooftop of a shipping container overlooking mountains.

Come for the coffee. Stay for the connection. Leave with stories.

WHY THIS ISN'T JUST ANOTHER FARM TOUR

It's a Day in Nature, Not a Classroom

Yes, you'll learn about coffee—how we pick it, process it, roast it, taste it. But that's woven naturally into a day of wandering, exploring, and simply being somewhere beautiful.

What makes us different:

🌳 The Setting - Our majestic Mũkũyũ tree has stood here for generations. Lunch beneath its canopy, with mountain views, feels like stepping into a storybook.

🐐 It's Hands-On - Pet (or milk!) our dairy goats. Harvest herbs and vegetables from our kitchen garden. Pick coffee cherries from the same trees Guka planted decades ago.

It's Intimate - Small groups only. No crowded buses. Just you, your people, and the peace of the countryside.

🍽️ Farm-to-Table Magic - Everything you eat comes from the farm or our neighbors. The carrots in your salad? You just pulled them from the soil. The avocados? Picked this morning.

🌅 Sundowners on the Rooftop - End your day with drinks on our container rooftop as golden hour paints the hills. It's the kind of moment you'll want to photograph—and remember forever.

YOUR DAY AT THE FARM

A Journey from Tree to Cup (with Plenty of Joy in Between)

☀️ Morning: Welcome to the Countryside

Your day begins with a warm welcome drink under the trees— coffee, fresh lemonade or ginger tea, made with ingredients from the farm. Patrick, our host, greets you with that easy countryside hospitality that instantly makes you feel at home.

🌱 Mid-Morning: Wonder & Explore

This is where the magic happens. You'll meander through the farm, harvesting what looks good in the kitchen garden, learning why coffee trees love our cool nights and warm days.

You'll see coffee at every stage: flowering trees, bright red cherries ready for picking, beans drying in the sun. Pick some if you'd like. Our hands-on coffee experience lets you pulp, sort, even roast your own batch.

☕ Late Morning: The Lab & Cupping

In our roasting lab, you'll get to taste the difference between roast profiles, understand what makes Kenyan coffee special, and maybe discover a different way of brewing your coffee.

🍽️ Midday: Lunch Under the Mũkũyũ

This is the heart of the day. Under the shade of our ancient fig tree, with the breeze and bird songs, you'll share a meal made from what the farm provides. Maybe it's goat stew from our herd, vegetables you picked an hour ago, fruits from our trees.

🌾 Afternoon: Choose Your Own Adventure

Some guests want to lounge on the grass with a book. Others want to explore more—maybe visit our avocado and banana groves, learn about our biodiversity approach, or just sit on the rooftop with another cup of coffee and take in the view.

There's no pressure to do anything. The afternoon is yours.

🌅 Late Afternoon: Sundowners & Goodbyes

As the sun begins its descent, we gather on the container rooftop for sundowners—drinks and light bites as golden hour turns everything soft and beautiful. It's the perfect ending: that satisfied, slightly reluctant feeling of leaving somewhere special.

You'll head home with a bag of our coffee (a parting gift), full bellies, and the kind of contentment that comes from a day well spent.
